As ELIJAH J. LAMOREAUX was in the act of coupling cars, the train, having become detached, he slipped on the rail, by which his right leg and arm were terribly mangled. The conductor, who was sixty rods away, heard the cry and ran to his assistance; more help was procured and he was put on board the early train for his home at Collin- wood. Dr. Davis, the family physician, was telegraphed, and he met the train at the depot and proceeded with him to Collinwood, where in company with other physi- cians a consulation was held and everything done to mitigate his sufferings, but all of no avail. He died about 11 1/2 o'clock the same morning, and up to the close was partly conscious of what was transpiring and by whom he was surrounded. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, Prof. Gist of this place offi- ciating, and the remains laid in the MOSHER burying ground at Wickliffe - a spot selected by himself only two weeks before where he and his family should finally repose. The deceased was in his 32d year, had been in the service of the company about a year, and bore a most excellent character. His death is universally lamented. He leaves a wife (daughter of MR. JOHN MOSHER) and a little daughter about three years of age. His aged father, a brother, and two sisters - MRS. GEO. EDDY and MRS. O. *. ROCKAFELLOW - are residents of this place. ===============================================================================
