ELIJAH MORGAN.

Elijah Morgan was born in Green district, Wetzel county, in the year
of 1840. He was a delegate to the constitutional convention that
determined that they would not take arms against the Union. He then
enlisted in 1861 in Company H, First West Virginia Infantry, and
remained in the army until the close of the war, taking part in some
of the most important battles, and the last battle of Bull Run. He was
not in the regiment long until he was commissioned sergeant. He was a
grandson of Morgan Morgan, whose name has been frequently mentioned in
this book.
