(1856-1935) ------------------------------------------------------------------- History of Ritchie County by Minnie Kendall Lowther Wheeling News Litho. Co., Wheeling W.Va., 1911 Pages 546-547, Dr. Arthur M. Edgell Dr. Edgell has had a longer connection with the village than other physician in its history. For more than a quarter of a century, he has been a leading practioner. Pleasants is his native county, and there he began his career as a pedagogue; but in his early manhood he turned his attention to the study of medicine. After receiving his diploma from a medical college, he went to New Milton, Doddridge county, and there began the practice of his profession; and there he was married to Miss Melissa Snyder, a native of that county, in 1880: and two years later came to Smithville, which is still his home. He is the father of two daughters, the late lamented Mrs. Daisy (W. A.) Adams, and Mrs. Ethel (Earle) Batson, of Cairo. ------------------------------------------------------------------- From Death Certificate, Ritchie County, WV #17930 FULL-NAME: Arthur M.
