Thomas Crezeilok, Raleigh No. 1 Mine, was caught by a fall of slate in his room, breaking his neck. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - (name unknown) (Italian, age 30, Single) July 20, 1906. Italian No. 47 (name unknown). Cranberry Mine, in attempting to cross the bottom of the shaft was caught by descending cage, breaking his back. A passage way is provided at the bottom of this shaft for men to travel from one side to the other. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Wooten, William (American; 25 years exper; age 42; Married; 3 Children) August 28, 1906. Wm. Wooten, Raleigh No. 3 Mine, was caught by a piece of draw slate falling in his room, causing immediate death. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Moore, Robert A. (American; 10 years exper; age 43; Married; 4 Children; $50 Ins.) September 6, 1906. Robt. A. Moore, Beckley Mine, after making a shot returned to his working place and was in the act of picking up his shovel to load his car when a large piece of slate fell from between posts, strik- ing him on head. The room was well posted. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - McClure, Frank (American; age 19; Single) April 8, 1907. Frank McClure, Wright Mine, was driving between partings, followed by Bird Bragg, another driver. Bragg did not see any light in front thought McClure had gone out, drove up cautiously and called, meeting with no response he went forward and found McClure lying in the car with his neck broken. How this accident happened will always remain a mystery. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Smertck, Charles (Hungarian; 3 years exper; age 24; Single $50 Insurance) May 17, 1907, died May 20, 1907. Charles Smertck, Stonewall Mine, was working at the face of his entry when he heard a piece of slate crack behind him,, turning to run was struck in the side by slate falling from the rib which knocked him down and he was held under the slate until released by Thos. Robertson, the Mine Foreman. He was sent to the hospital at McKendree where he died. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Saunders, Lawrence (Negro; 10 years exper; age 28; Married; $50 Insurance) June 27, 1907.
