Roderick, William L.     (American; 2 yrs exper; age 55; Married; $400 Ins.)

     August 24, 1905. William L. Roderick, No. 9 Mine (Davis C. &. C. Co.), 
     while going to pumping station, about 175 feet from pit mouth, he met 
     a trip with horse and four cars coming out. There was plenty of space 
     on one side, 4 feet clear of rail. It is the opinion of all that he became 
     confused and made an attempt to run into crosscut, about 10 'feet farther 
     up the heading, and was caught by the cars.
