The body was tenderly placed there by nephews and nephew-in-laws following impressive services held at 2:30 this afternoon in the residence, conducted by the Rev. Baird Mitchell, a nephew and the Rev. Robert S. Lambert, rector of Christ Episcopal Church, assisted by the Rev. Herman G. Stoetzer, pastor emeritus of the First Presbyterian Church. Acting as his pallbearers were Dr. G. H. Brownfield, Brooks Fleming, Jr., Harry B. Crane of Fleming, Ky., Allison N. Fleming, J. E. Watson, Jr., Robert L. Watson, Harry J. Hartley, Ernest Hutton, F. Karl Lowe and Arthur Burke Koontz of Charleston. The body rested amid a great profusion of flowers, which testified to the esteem in which Mr. Watson was held throughout the community. Ever since his death occurred the home has been visited by young and old, men and women in all ranks of life and different races and nationalities have called to pay a tribute to one they had known and loved. Among conspicuous pieces were those from the officials and employees of the Consolidation Coal Co., the Monongahela West Penn Public Service Co., and the National Bank of Fairmont, with all of which he had been affiliated. The entire Watson Building, which houses the Consolidation Coal Co., the M.W.P.P.S. Co., and the National Bank, was closed from 2 o'clock until 3:30 o'clock, the hour of the funeral, and many of the officials and employees attended the obsequies. LaMar Satterfield accompanied by Mrs. Paul J. Donham sang "Abide With Me" and "The Home of the Soul." A large number attended the services and a long funeral cortege followed the hearse to Woodlawn Cemetery were entombment was made.
