DEATH TAKES MRS. POSTEN

Member of Prominent Preston County Family Dies

Mrs. H. C. Posten, aged 75 years, member of early prominent family of
Preston county, and a much beloved woman of this city, passed away
last evening in her home, 511 Locust avenue. She had been ill for
some time and for days past, her condition had been growing much
worse.

Mrs. Posten was born July 23, 1855, in Masontown, Preston county, W.
Va. She was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Sibina Cobun Watson.
Since her marriage she has resided the greater part of the time in
Fairmont. Her husband passed away a few years ago.

The deceased is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Effie Posten Arnett
and Miss Ruth Posten. Her son-in-law, "June" Arnett, met with a
sudden death several months ago. Mrs. Posten also leaves a brother,
John W. Watson, of Kingwood. A sister, Mrs. Almira Watson Wheeler,
wife of C. C. Wheeler, of this city, died about a year ago, and a
brother, Granville Watson, is also deceased. Mrs. Posten was a woman
of many fine qualities and of splendid Christian character. She was a
devout member of the First Presbyterian church. Mrs Posten was a
deeply devoted mother and in turn her children were most devoted and
attentive to her.

The funeral will be held Saturday morning with services at the
residence at 10:30 o'clock. The Rev. George E. Bevans pastor of the
First Presbyterian church, will officiate. Interment will be made in
Woodlawn cemetery by Undertaker R. C. Jones.
