Mr. Shaw was born in Marion County, West Virginia, February 15, 1872, and is a son of Joshua and Jane (West) Shaw. Mr. Shaw secured his preparatory education in the public schools of Marion County, West Virginia, and then took the advanced course at the Fairmont State Normal School, and subsequently entered Duquesne College at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Later, at the West Virginia University, he received the degrees of LL. B. and A. B. He was admitted to the bar at Fairmont, West Virginia, in 1895, and there successfully engaged in the practice of his profession, winning the approbation of the public, bench and bar. Always an ardent supporter of the Republican party and one of its most active workers in his section, he was selected for the office of clerk of the House of Delegates by a handsome majority in 1901 and was unanimously re-elected in 1903. Fraternally Mr. Shaw affiliates with the Odd Fellows. Few men in Marion County of the same age have come so favorably and prominently before the public, and, judging by the past, it is safe to predict a brilliant professional and political future for him. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Additional Information --------------------------------------------------------------------- MARRIAGE LICENSE Harry Shaw married Willa Berry on October 7, 1896 in Marion County, WV --------------------------------------------------------------------- DEATH CERTIFICATES Harry Shaw Date of death: October 28, 1952 Place of death: residence Residence at time of death: 425 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont WV Father's name: Joshua Shaw Mother's name: Emily Jane West Place of burial: Maple Grove Cemetery --------------------------------------------------------------------- Mary Willa Berry Shaw (wife of Harry Shaw) Date of birth: September 18, 1870 Place of birth: Marion County, WV Date of death: October 12, 1930 Place of death: residence Residence at time of death: 425 Morgantown Avenue, Fairmont WV Daughter of Thomas L.
