JAMES F. HOUGH — son of Thomas and Sarah (Bartlett) Hough, was born
in Harrison county, Virginia, (now West Virginia), on the 22d day of
February, 1824. He became a resident in Marion county in 1842, and is
now a merchant of Fairmont. He has been twice married, his first
wife, Catherine Hunsaker, who was born May 1, 1826. Their marriage
occurred September 19, 1844. She died April 8, 1867. Their children
were five: William E., born July 5, 1845, lives in Marion county;
Alice, April 8, 1849, lives in this county; Mary J., February 26,
1851, lives at Mount Pleasant, Iowa; Sallie B., December 13, 1858,
died August 16, 1869; John H., September 8, 1864, lives in Marion
county. In this county the second marriage of James F. Hough was
solemnized July 2, 1868, Charlotte M. Turney becoming his wife. She
was born April 21, 1840, in Weston, Lewis county, now part of West
Virginia. Her parents, Daniel and Narcissi, (Lowman) Turney, are no
longer living. Her father came to Marion county from Pennsylvania
about 1830.
