Hardesty & Company Publishers, 1883 Mannington District, Marion County, West Virginia JAMES ULYSSES HAMILTON - is one of the farming residents in Mannington district, Marion county, West Virginia. He was born January 12, 1829, in the section of country now included in Marion county, and was a son of Boaz F. and Maria (Parrish) Hamilton. His father was born in Monongalia county, December 4, 1808, his mother in Harrison county, June 20, 1806, they made their home here in 1822, and are still living here. In what is now Paw Paw district, Marion county, April 14, 1836, was born Melissa Yost, and she became the wife of James U. Hamilton in Greene county, Pennsylvania, October 12, 1854. Their eight children were born: Alvin L., October 1, 1855; Maria Etta (Morgan), October 24, 1857; Millard F., February 22, 1860; Ida A., December 7, 1862; Charles E., January 31, 1864; Bertie C., May 8, 1868; Elva A., February 7, 1871; Martha E., December 15, 1874. Maria E. is married and living in this county, and the others are at home. The parents of Mrs. Hamilton were Dr. Nicholas B. and Elva Ann (Barnett) Yost, both born in what is now Marion county. His birth was on the 4th of November, 1812, and he died August 14, 1850; his wife, born in 1810, died August 10, 1845. The postoffice address of James U.
