Hardesty & Company Publishers, 1883 NATHANIEL C. COCHRAN -- son of James and Amanda (Brumage) Cochran, was born in Marion county, August 28, 1836. His father is now a resident of Jackson county, this State, and his mother deceased. The subject of this sketch enlisted in Company C, 6th West Virginia Infantry, August 18, 1861, and was transferred to Battery F, 1st West Virginia Artillery, in July, 1862, where he served until honorably discharged at Wheeling, in September, 1864. In Marion county, November 16, 1865, he was united in marriage with Emily B. Fleming, and the record of their children is: Martha M., born August 8, 1873; George W., April 7, 1876; Nelly A., October 23, 1878; James A. G., November 7, 1880. Emily B., wife of Mr. Cochran, was born in Marion county, January 25, 1845, a daughter of Allison Fleming, now deceased. Her mother, whose maiden name was Martha Louchery, came from Pennsylvania to this county in 1838. Nathaniel C. Cochran is one of the most enterprising of the business men of Fairmont, and his business card appears on page 315 of this work. He has served three terms as mayor of Fairmont, namely: Elected, April 1, 1869, served two years; elected in 1872, and served one year; again elected in 1882, and is the present incumbent of the office. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Additional Information: --------------------------------------------------------------------- Death Register, Marion County 1904, page 26 Nathaniel C.
