U.S. Data Repository -- USGenNet Inc. -- Please read U.S. Data Repository Copyright Statement on this page: Trent Cemetery (in the sequence the stone markers were recorded) February 2005 by Lisa L. Luther (charleywest@hotmail.com) Trent Cemetery Caretakers: Bill and Jean Newman 713 Flat Creek Road Alkol, WV Transcriber’s Note: The inscriptions listed here are as true as possible to the actual text on the headstones. All military markers will be noted with † beside the name. If I have estimated a birth date then I will denote it with cDOB (calculated date of birth). Directions: From the Alkol Post Office, turn on Bulger Road. Take your time and drive slowly - this road is narrow and curvy! A short distance from the post office the road will split – stay on the road going to the left, do not veer to the right up the hill. Follow along Bulger Road until you come to the old Martin Elementary School building on your right. Begin to slow down here. Make the 1st right onto Left Hand Fork/Bark Camp Branch (just beside the old school). Follow Left Hand Fork without making any turns (again I caution you to drive slowly), and you will be on a graveled dirt road that winds up a mountain. When you see the gas well on your left (near the top of the mountain) you are headed in the correct direction. Continue down the mountain and just a short piece after the road straightens you will see on your right a nice open area with a pretty brick home. This is the home of Bill and Jean Newman (the mailbox will read ‘713 Flat Creek Road’). The Trent Cemetery is on their personal property on the hill behind their house and is not always visible from the road. The Newman’s are exceptionally friendly folks so please ask their permission before continuing on to the cemetery. ============================================================================================================= ENGRAVED NAME ENGRAVED DATES ============================================================================================================= 1.
