U.S. Data Repository -- USGenNet Inc. -- Please read U.S. Data Repository Copyright statement on this page: Pauley Cemetery November 2004 by Lisa L. Luther (charleywest@hotmail.com) Transcriber’s Note: The inscriptions listed here are abbreviated versions of the actual text on the headstones. All military markers will be noted with (beside the name. If I have estimated a birth date then I will denote it with cDOB (calculated date of birth). Directions: Down Buckeye Fork road just past the Johnson Fork mailboxes on the right. You will have to cross the creek to get to the gate. The gate stays locked to keep out vehicles, but there is a nice walking trail just to the left of the gate. Once the trail ends go up the hill on your left. The cemetery is really overgrown so you may not see it until you get close. Definitely take a camera and a walking stick - I also wouldn’t suggest going there in mosquito season or hot weather! ======================================================================================================================= ENGRAVED NAME ENGRAVED DATES ======================================================================================================================= 1. †Winfield Loftis WEST VIRGINIA PVT US ARMY 03/29/1888 – 06/10/1951 2. This inscription was done by hand, so the last name is probably Justice instead of ‘Justes’. 15. This is currently the oldest legible marker in the Pauley Cemetery. 17. The headstone said ‘G. Loftis’, but the Curry Funeral Home marker said ‘Jeraldean Loftis’.
