Luther (charleywest@hotmail.com) Hughes Graveyard Caretaker: D.E. Hughes 304-524-7259 Transcriber’s Note: The inscriptions listed here are as true as possible to the actual text on the headstones. All military markers will be noted with † beside the name. There were 7 graves with unmarked stones. Directions: From the Sod Post Office take Garretts Bend Road to the top of the first hill with the very bright green house on the left. Take the road on the right (across the road from the green house). This road goes up a very steep hill and eventually leads to a crossroads. At the crossroads take the left road. Follow this road until you see the entrance to Mt. Sod Park on your right. The Hughes Graveyard is the first left after passing the Mt. Sod entrance. There is a sign that indicates the cemetery. Definitely take a walking stick and a camera. The scenery is beautiful and peaceful. The best time to go is mid to late fall to avoid mosquitoes and other things that bite. ============================================================================= ENGRAVED NAME ENGRAVED DATES ============================================================================= 1a.
