(American; 1-yr exp; age 54; Married; 4-children) Sept. 27, 1901. James J. Tettro, Reynoldsville or Wolf Summit Mine, trying to pass driver on main heading, stepped to wrong side of track and was caught between loaded car and coal. On the opposite side of the track the distance from the rib to track is four feet, which would have insured his safety. He was crushed to death. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Scholar, Nick (Italian; 2-mos exp; age 28; Shooter; Married) Nov. 5, 1901. Nick Scholar, Harbert Mine, was riding on trip of empty cars, the trip stopped suddenly and he was thrown out in front of cars, one car passed over his body. He was almost instantly killed. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Olivana, Frank (Italian; 6-mos exp; age 19; Single) Nov. 25, 1901. Frank Olivana, Enterprise Mine, was killed by a fall of slate. He was working in his room when a fail of slate came down on him before he could get out of the way. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Frush, William (American; 6-mos exp; age 48; Dumper; Married) Nov. 28, 1901. William Frush, Lynch Mine, was killed by incline rope breaking and allowing the car to run away. He attempted to get out of its way and his head was caught against a piece of timber at the head of the steps. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dilonk, Frank (Russian; 6-yrs exp; age 35; Married; 2-chidren) Jan. 7, 1902, died Jan. 8, 1902. Frank Dilonk, Riverdale Mine, was hurt in the side by a fall of slate from the effects of which injury he died the following day. The fall was caused by a shot being fired on the solid after he had been instructed by the Superintendent not to fire one there as there was danger of the slate falling. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Armstrong, Calvin (American; 5-mos exp; age 13; Trapper) Jan. 7, 1902, died Jan. 8, 1902. Calvin Armstrong, Two Lick Mine, was run over by a car and killed. He had flagged the driver and brought him to a stop and then flagged him to go ahead with the loaded trip. After the horse had passed the boy he jumped on the cars, slipped and fell and one car passed over him. He had been told not to jump on the trips. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Morris, John (Italian; 2-yrs exp; age 27; Single) Jan. 10, 1902. John Morris, Erie Mine, was killed by a fall of slate. He was standing in a room watching another man load a car of coal, when the slate fell, crushing his head, causing instant death. He was not in his room and knew of the danger. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Pagonis, Joe (Slav; 1-yr exp; age 42; Married) April 10, 1902, died April 13, 1902.
