Brooke County, page 209. =============================================================================== Hover, Paul (Slav; 4 yrs exper; age 35; Married) July 29, 1905. Paul Hover, Beech Bottom No. 1 Mine, was attempting to get coal enough from under stone to finish loading last car. Stone fell, catching his head and killing him instantly. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Michele, Aureglio (Italian; 6 months exper; age 16; Single) February 6, 1906. Aureglio Michele, Locust Grove Mine, had been riding on mine cars and got caught between a boiler standing on side track and mine cars. Was not employed to handle those cars, and should not have been there. Head crushed. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Sasse, John (Hungarian; 1 yr exper; age 18; Single; $100.00 Insurance) May 18, 1906. John Sasse, Beech Bottom Mine, was off traveling entry on haulage entry, taking tools to shop, and fouled trolley wire on back of neck at base of brain and instantly killed. _______________________________________________________________________________ NOTE: The following accident was not tabulated, as it were not caused by any defect in any part of the equipment of the mines: _______________________________________________________________________________ Phillips, Harry Brooke County, page 224. August 5, 1905. Harry Phillips, Beech Bottom No. 1 Mine, was tres- passing on tipple and fell from low grade track to county road.
