William Francis, Century Shaft Mine, was Mine Boss in this mine. Joe Miler, a miner, has lighted a shot of dynamite in a "horse back," and after giving the usual alarm, had gone through a cross cut to get a light for his lamp which had gone out. Francis attending to his duties, came straight up to the face of the entry and just as he arrived here the shot went off, killing him. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Suchto, Tony (Russian; age 35; Loader; Married) March 14, 1902. Tony Suchto, Berryburg No. 1 Mine, had been ordered to leave up the top coal, but disobeyed orders and shot it down.
