Children, Taisa E., George C., William C., Annie E., Pearl E. and Nettie May. He is a member of the M. E. Church, an Odd Fellow, K. of P. and K. of M. He is a Republican, and a farrier and smith, living in Philippi. He was educated in Barton and Cresaptown, Maryland. His paternal great, great grandfather came from England, and settled in Pennsylvania; and his great grandfather and grandfather (Abraham Barnes) were soldiers in the Revolution, fought through the war, and the latter was wounded in the neck and knee and drew a pension. He had three houses, on the same site, burned by Indians, and had three children killed by them, on Sideling Hill Creek, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Barnes' father fought in the Mexican War. The grandfather Lentz came from Baden Baden, Germany, 1828. He settled in Maryland. The mother of the subject of this sketch was then eight months old. Mr. Barnes came to Barbour in 1881.
