The item given below from the Evening Wisconsin of yesterday, is of interest to local readers. MR. EASSON is well known here, having run a boat livery in this city for several years. "CAPT. LAWRENCE A. EASSON, said to be the oldest lake captain in the state of Wisconsin died last night at his home in Racine. MR. EASSON was born in Scotland in 1827 and came to Racine in 1843. When a boy he became a sailor. He sailed a large number of the early day boats and was commander in later days of the schooners Ethan Allen, Alvin Clarke, Lydia Case, Dolphin, S. M. Knapp, and J. I. Case. Upon retiring from the lakes some years ago, CAPT. EASSON was appointed keeper of the Racine North point lighthouse where he served for ten years and then four years as keeper of the Racine pier lighthouse.
