RICHARDSON GEORGE HALLARD (CAP) RICHARD- SON, 51, of 820 W. State st., a Great Lakes sailor for 35 years, died Thursday afternoon in a hospital at Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. He had suffered a cerebral hemor- rhage aboard the ore carrier Wil- liam H. Wolf while it was travel- iing through the Soo locks. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Goodwin funeral home, 731 N. 16th st. Burial will be in Valhalla cemetery. The body is at the funeral home. MR. RICHARDSON was second mate aboard the ore carrier, which was enroute from Duluth, Minn., to Toledo, Ohio. He went to sea when he was 16 years old. He was born in Peter- borough, Ont., and settled here after his marriage to ORPHA ROETH- LISBERGER of Milwaukee in 1931. MR. RICHARSON was a survivor of the sinking of the passenger steamer Wisconsin off Kenosha on Oct. 29, 1929. The ship sprang a leak while on its way from Chicago to Milwaukee. As quartermaster, RICHARDSON was one of the last to leave the ship before it went down. Sixteen lives were lost in the dis- aster. The Great Lakes sailor was a member of the Eagles club, aerie No. 0137; the Woodmen of the World chapter at Peterborough, and the Lake Carriers' association. Surviving, in addition to his wife, is his mother, MRS.
