He sailed the scow HELEN, schooner WAUKESHA and for the last two years the steamer MARKHAM. He was known as an excel- lent navigator and a noble fellow, was a member of the Scandanavian benevolent society, and a Royal templar of temperance. To his ship- mates and friends he said: "I will watch for you at the gates of the better world." CAPTAIN HAGAN leaves a wife, daughter, NETTIE, aged twelve, baby LILLIE, aged eight months, and sons JAMES and SPENCER aged seven and four years respectively. The angel of peace presided in the sick room and when the time drew near for the brave seaman to depart on his last voyage he clasped his wife's hand and said, "Don't cry for me LENA, I am going home, I will wait for you there," then drifted into sweet sleep. ===========================================================================
