              Retired Lake Captain
                Is Dead at Marinette
                
           Marinette, Wis. - JOSEPH T. COSTELLO,
         59, retired merchant marine captain
         died Wednesday at Marinette General
         Hospital.
           COSTELLO retired from sailing five
         years ago because of illness.  Born
         here Mar. 21, 1890, he left Marinette
         at the age of 18 to go to Racine.  He
         served in the revenue cutter service
         on the Great Lakes and for 20 years
         was in the merchant marine.  He returned
         here 17 years ago and sailed for the
         Reiss line and other steamship companies.
           Funeral services will be held Saturday.
