The first was that of MRS. RAGNHILDER JOHNSON, who was taken ill on Christmas day and died the following Friday. Being past 85 years of age she was unable to shake off the dread malady. The funeral was held on Monday and inter- ment took place in the Washington Harbor cemetery, alongside the remains of her husband who preceded her about eight months ago. He was older than she at the time of his death, the couple being the oldest in the community, if not in the county. MRS. JOHNSON was a native of Iceland and widow of the late GUMLAUGERSON JOHNSON. MRS. MORRIS OTTOSEN passed away at her home on Sunday evening, the cause of death being pneumonia. Some two weeks ago MRS. OTTOSEN gave birth to a daughter, which lived but a few hours. In her weakened condition she was taken ill with the grippe, which developed into pneumonia. Deceased was a daughter of CAPT. G. GOODLETSON, who is well known in marine circles as the master of the schooner Lucy Graham. MR. OTTOSEN the widower, is the oldest son of L. P. OTTOSEN, postmaster at Washington Harbor. This is an exceptionally sad case as the husband and father is left with three motherless children, the eldest being a girl of 13, a boy, 9, and a baby boy of 4. The sympathy of all on the island goes out to him in this hour of his great trial and grief. =========================================================================== If you've reached this file through a SEARCH, you can access more of our growing collection of FREE online information by going to the following URL: http://www.us-data.org/ ===========================================================================
