The first loss in the little band of light hearts and happy faces, who, last year, left our shores full of hope at the call of their country, is NEILS NELSON, son of CAPT. N. P. NELSON. He had gone through the campaign in good health, until the regiment reached the shores of the Missouri and Mississippi, and on getting into the warm region had an attack of sickness resulting in consumption, of which he died of the 25th of June; and was buried on the banks of the Obion river, in Tennessee. Our son, JOE, on sending the sad news to his father says of him, "he was a good man and a faithful soldier, obedient and respectful to his officers, and always ready and willing to do his duty." When such a man goes forth at his country's call, and death meets him in the path of duty, can we not truly says, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter into thy rest." ==========================================================================
