DAVID LEWIS DIES MRS. DAVID (ADELIA*) LEWIS, widow of the late Rev. LEWIS died at her home in the First ward yesterday morning. Although MRS. LEWIS had been ill for several weeks a short time ago she had apparently recovered, as late as Monday had performed her household duties even to the extent of doing her family washing. Tuesday night she began to fail rapidly and early the following morning the sands of life ran out, death being the result of her advanced age. MRS. LEWIS on September 25 last celebrated her 90th birthday, having been born in the year 1822. In the year 1880 she moved here with her husband, where she has since made her home. She was a most remarkable woman, being exceptionally energetic and industrious. MRS. LEWIS was a devout Christian and a great help- mate to her husband in the early days of his service in the M. E. church work. The funeral will be held from the house Friday morning at 10 o'clock and from the M. E. church at 10:30, Rev. J. L. Sizer officiating. JOHN McNALLY of Hopkins, N.D., a grand-son will arrive here today to attend the funeral. At the time of the death of MR. LEWIS the couple had been married sixty-three years, both having been pioneers in church work when the state of Wisconsin, or the greater portion of it was a wilderness. *NOTE* The above obituary did not mention her first name. I obtained it from the 1900 Federal Census, ED 48, Ward 1, Sturgeon Bay, WI. ========================================================================== If you've reached this file through a SEARCH, you can access more of our growing collection of FREE online information by going to the following URL: http://www.us-data.org/ ==========================================================================
