LAURIE and A. JESSEN Die During Weekend. Washington Island - This community marked the passing of another marine man with many years of service in the death of ABRAHAM JESSEN, age 66, who died of heart trouble, at the Marine hospital in Chicago Sunday night, Jan. 15. He had been ill for about two years. MR. JESSEN was born on Feb. 22, 1872, in Perth Amboy, N. J., and came to the island with his parents when he was four years old. With the exception of time spent in the lighthouse service, he was a resident of the island his entire life. He was twice married, his first wife, ANNE GUDMUNDSON, whom he married in 1902, having preceded him in death by 30 years. On Nov. 11, 1913 he was married to GRACE McDONALD, who survives him, as do also one brother, ANTON, Kewaunee; and four sisters, MRS. WM. JESS (MARY); MRS. CARL HANSON (THORA), Milwaukee; MRS. CARL SCHMIDT (ANNE), Washington Island; TRENA JESSEN at home. Three sons by his first mar- riage also survive him, being JOHN, Chicago; THEODORE, Washington Island; WILLIAM, Milwaukee; and four children by his second marriage, MRS. JACOB GUNNLAUGSSEN (JANE), Washington Island; ABE, JR., Washington Island; GRACE, Milwaukee; and CARL, at home; in addition to eight grandchildren.
