Funeral Arrangements Are Not Yet Completed CAPTAIN HART Was Born in Green Bay November 13, 1839, and is Survived by His Wife and One Son, EUGENE C. HART. (Special to the Gazette) Sturgeon Bay, Wis., March 20. - CAPTAIN CLIFFORD B. HART, veteran navigator and one of the best known marine men in this section, died suddenly last evening shortly after 6 o'clock at his home here. The cause of death was apoplexy. The deceased was 74 years old. No funeral arrangements have been announced as yet, but it is expected that they will be completed some time today. CAPTAIN HART was born in Green Bay, November 13, 1839, a son of EDWIN and ELIZA J. (GLASS) HART. The Hart Steamboat line, of which the deceased was owner at the time of his death, was founded in 1873, with a capital of $140,000, by Captains H. W. and C. B. HART. CAPTAIN HART was at one time also part owner in the schooners, Eva M. Cone and Union, both in their day plying between Green Bay and Chi- cago, and was captain of the Eva M. Cone from 1857 to 1863, and the Union from 1865 to 1883. From 1865 to 1883 he was steamboating on the Oconto river, returning to Green Bay in the latter year. CAPTAIN HART was married to Miss HATTIE ELLEN ST. ORES, who was born in the east. To Captain and Mrs. HART came one son, EUGENE C. HART, born December 7, 1880. For many years CAPTAIN HART was also identi- fied with the Green Bay Transportation line, the H. W. and C. B. Hart lines, but a few years ago organized what is now known as the Hart Steamboat company of Sturgeon Bay. The company owns and operates three steamers, the Bon Ami, Thistle and Sailor Boy. These boats ply between Green Bay, Marinette, Escanaba, Mich., Sturgeon Bay and other Door county ports. The deceased was a member of Washington Lodge, No. 21, F. & A. M., Green Bay, attaining the thirty-second degree, being connected with Warren Chapter No. 8, Palestine commandery, K. T., and Wisconsin consistory. He was also a member of the Green Bay Lodge of Elks, No. 259, and the I. O. O. F.
