CARLSON, which occurred at Two Rivers on Monday of last week, was a shock to his many friends here, he having been a former resident of this town. The following particulars are taken from the Two Rivers Reporter: "Sunday afternoon, April 5, just about the time of day when darkness creeps over Lake Michigan, the lookout at Two Rivers life saving station saw a boat in dire distress as it was making an attempt to enter the harbor at Two Rivers. The life saving crew was summoned and assisted the boat, which proved to be the Dorothy A., with a crew of three men, just re- turning from the fishing grounds. NELSON A. CARLSON, who was a member of the Two Rivers life savers, had a severe cold, however, took his place in the life boat with the other mem- bers. The high sea running threw an icy spray over those in the life boat and chilled and be- numbed the crew. The cold CARLSON had, developed pneumonia and after a week's illness he died Monday. NELSON CARLSON was born at Fish Creek, Door county, 26 years ago. During the past six years he was a member of the Two Rivers life saving crew, being promoted to surfman No. 2 at the opening of the present season. He is survived by a wife, two children, besides his father, mother and two brothers residing at Fish Creek." The funeral was held from the home on Thurs- day, April 23, the remains being interred at Two Rivers. ===============================================================================
