           Fatal and Distressing Accident -
         Our community have this week been thrown into a painful state
       of gloom on receiving the intellegence, that two of our most
       worthy citizens on the bay had been capsized on Green Bay, and
       both drowned. On Saturday morning last DAVID SAWYER, and ALEX-
       ANDER LAURIE, left Sturgeon Bay, in a sail boat for Green Bay,
       to purchase supplies. In the early part of the week, Mr. FRANK
       SAWYER, who lives at the Bay Settlement, was told that some
       Indians had seen a sail boat somewhere near point Sauble sunk,
       and on repairing to the spot found it to be the sail boat of
       his brother, DAVID, but no traces of either SAWYER or LAURIE,
       could be found. - Mr. F. SAWYER at once came down here, leaving
       some men to raise the boat - he thinks that the sad accident
       must have happened on Saturday night which was dark and stormy,
       and is of opinion that the boat ran into a pound net, and get-
       ting entangled must have capsized in the gale. At the time we
       write no tidings of either of the men have reached here, and
       we fear that as neither of them were good swimmers, they must
       have met with a watery grave. We feel deeply for the families
       of these worthy and good men in their sad afflictions, and
       are sure that the entire community will sympathize and aid
       them in this bitter hour and mournful trial.  - ALEX. LAURIE
       leaves a large family to deplore his loss.

           We understand that the bodies of Mr. ALEX. LAURIE and Mr.
         DAVID SAWYER, who were drowned some time since, on their
         way to Green Bay, have been found, and all their money and
         papers found with them.
