August 13, 1863

           Drowned at Washington Harbor - On the 4th inst., a sad case
         of drowning occurred near Washington Harbor, to HORACE BEAM,
         son of DAVID BEAM, while fishing. While adjusting the rigging
         of his boat, he fell overboard, and although there was a boy
         with him in the boat, and another boat near by to help save
         him, he did not come to the surface after falling in the
         water. HORACE was a fine promising young man, whose loss
         will be keenly felt by his parents, who are absent serving
         the country, - the father being in the 3rd Wisconsin Cavalry,
         and the mother in the occupation of nurse in one of the mili-
         tary hospitals. They have the heartfelt sympathy of all in
         Door county who know the family.
