The father was a thriving farmer, and died at the early age of twenty-eight years. The mother, a native of this county, is the daughter of ALFRED DUNCAN, a prominent citizen. She reared five sons and one daughter. Our subject, the eldest, received few advantages, and on account of his father’s death when he was three years old, he has always been dependent on himself, but has made a success as a farmer. In 1876 he married MOLLIE E., a daughter of W. E. JONES, of this county. She was born December 22, 1860, and their children are SAMUEL W., JOHN E., ANNA L. and ALVIN G. ===========================================================================
