Will of

Benjamin Drummond

 In the Name of God Amen, I Benjamin Drummond of the District of Abbeville & State of South Carolina, (Planter) Being weak in Body, but of perfect mind & Memory, Thanks be to god for it, and Calling unto mind the Mortality of the Body & knowing it is appointed unto all men Once to die, Do make and Ordain this my last will and Testament, in manner and form Following,

That is to say first of all I Recommend my soul into the hands of God who gave it, and my Body I Recommend to be Buried in a Chrustian like manner at the Discretion of my Executors, hereafter named

As to my worldly Estate which God hath blessed me with, I give Damise & Dispose of the same in the Following Manner -

First of all I give & bequeath to Anna Drummond my beloved wife a Large Sorrel Mare by Name Pol, and Saddle & Three Cows & Calves & all the Flock of Geese, and I Lend to my wife the use of one Choice Room on the lower floor of my Dwelling House and one Room on the upper floor of the same, during her Natural life & my Two Negroes Dick and Lydda dureing her life & the said fellow Dick is to work on the Plantation with my son Moses for which my son Moses is to give his mother a Support of Necessaries to live on & some little Neccesarys out of the Store, as She may stand in need of.

I also give unto my wife Anna Drummond the Choice of my Feather Beds, & Furniture I also lend my said wife all my Household & Kitchen furniture not other wise desposed of to my Children.

Item, I give to my son Nathaniel Drummond when my daughter Jenny shall arrive at the age of Twenty Years a Negro Woman called big Sarah, and three Cows & Calves.  (Item) I give to my daughter Betsy Godfrey & Carlisle Ball after my wife Anna's Death the Two above named Negroes Dick & Lidda to be shared & Divided Between them as they think proper, and when my Youngest daughter Jenny arrives at the age of Twenty Years I give to my Two daughters, Betsy Godfrey & Carlisle Ball, three Cows & Calves & Fifty Dollars apiece.  That is three Cows & Calves & fifty Dollars to Each of them

Item, I give to my Grand Daughter Anna Drummond the daughter of my Decd son Benjamin Drummond, Seven Hundred Dollars (when my Youngest daughter Jenny comes of age) the money may be drawed out of the Executors hands upon Condition that Robert Marsh Chooses to take it & give Bond & Security to pay the same to my Grand Daughter Anna Drummond when she comes of age or Marries-

Item I give unto Sarah Drummond Relict. of Ben. Drummond Decd Two Hundred Dollars to be paid her at the time of the Divison, that is when my Youngest daughter Jenny arrives to the age of Twenty years.

Item, I give to my son Norman Drummond when my youngest Daughter Jenny arrives at the age of Twenty years, one Negro fellow named Isaac one Good Horse & three Cows & Calves  I also give unto my said son Norman the undivided half of Two Tracts of land lying in Abbeville this Joining each Other one Tract- I purchased of Leonard Waller the other Peter Ball.  Reserving as before the Dwelling House or the Two Rooms for the use of my wife and my son Norman is not to be in possession of his part of the above land until his Sister Jenny's age of Twenty years,

Item I give unto my son Moses when my daughter Jenny arrives to the age of Twenty years, Five Hundred Dollars to make up his Negro (or in the Room of a Negro)  I also give my son Moses the undivided half of the above mentioned Two Tracts of land. also one Good Horse and three Cows & Calves-

Item, I give unto my daughter Jenny Drummond when she shall arrive at the age of Twenty Years a Negro girl Called little Sarah- about Thirteen Years old with all her further Increase also at the same times the Second Choice of Feather Beds & furniture one good young Horse & Saddle and three Cows & Calves--

Item I give also to my before mentioned daughter Betsy Godfrey, one Hundred Acres of land in Lawrance District known by the Name of Tom Norths Tract-

Item, I give unto my son Nathaniel Drummond one Hundred Acres of land in Lawrence Des being the balance of a Tract of land sold to John Page. 

Item it is my will and Desire that all my land not Bequeath'd be sold  at the Descretion of my Executors, at the Time of the Division is to take place, and at which time Betsy Godfrey & Nathaniel Drummond is to have their lands. (which time is when my youngest Daughter Jenny arrives at Twenty years old-

It is my will & Desire that all the Rest of my Estate not other ways Bequeathed be sold and the monies arising from the sale of my land & other property after paying all my Just Debts be equally Divided among all my Children Viz. Nathan Drummond Norman Drummond Moses Drummond Betsy Godfrey Carlisle Ball and Jenny Drummond. 

Lastly I do. appoint Leonard Waller and William Waller to be my true & Lawfull Executors to this my last will & Testament Hereby Revoking every other will or wills by me Heretofore made Ratifying and confirming this to be my last will no other.  In witness whereof I have Here unto Set my hand & Seal this Eighteenth day of October in the year of our lord one thousand Eight Hundred & three & of American Independance the Twenty Eighth---------
