ANNA C. MINCH DEAD SHE WAS A PIONEER IN THE COMMERCE OF THE LAKES. Cleveland, February 4, - MRS. ANNA C. MINCH, widow of the late CAPT. PHILIP MINCH, died Friday at the family resi dence, No. 80 Kinsman street. MRS. MINCH was over 86 years of age and was in many ways the oldest person connected with the lake trade both in point of years and of continuous ser- vice. She has been steadily engaged with the commerce of the great lakes, it may be said, since iron ore began to be shipped from Lake Superior, and though aged as she was she personally watched the daily business and was actively concernced in it. Two years ago she christened the steamer Anna C. Minch, named after her, launched from the Cleveland yards of the American Shipbuilding Company. Recently she placed a new order with the same company for the construction of a new 590-foot steamer, which is now building at Lorain. MRS. MINCH was thoroughly informed upon the whole lake situation, and proved that she recog- nized the great strides in the business by giving an order for a boat of these dimensions. MRS. MINCH was president of the Kins- man Transit Company. She was the mother of MRS. HARRY STEINBRENNER, of this city. The funeral services will be held from her late residence, No. 80 Kinsman street, Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock. ========================================================================== If you've reached this file through a SEARCH, you can access more of our growing collection of FREE online information by going to the following URL: http://www.us-data.org/ ==========================================================================
