Friday, 25 July 1919 CAPT. CHARLES A. BENHAM DEAD. CAPT. CHARLES A. BENHAM, master of the steamer John Stanton of the Hutchinson fleet and one of the most successful navigators on the lakes, died at his Cleveland home Tuesday evening. He had been in poor health for some time, but did not leave his boat until a week ago. CAPT. BENHAM was fifty-one years old and had been in the employ of Hutchinson & Co. since 1904, and previous to that he sailed boats of the Wilson Transit company. His last command in that fleet was the steamer W. D. Rees. Besides his wife and two sons, RALPH and KENT, the former mate of the steamer F. R. Hazard, he is survived by his brothers CAPT. C. E. BENHAM, and four brothers (*not a typo*) CAPT. W. P., master of the steamer J. J. Sullivan CAPT. GEORGE E., master of the steamer John Owen; ROBERT, assistant United States inspector of boilers for this district, and HARRISON BENHAM of New York. ===============================================================================
