                             GEORGE WITHERELL
                             ________________
                             
                           George Witherell passed away
                         at the home of his brother,
                         Charles Witherell in Ossian at
                         the age of eighty-one years.
                         Death occurred on Wednesday
                         evening at eleven-thirty after a
                         short illness.
                         
                           Mr. Witherell was a prominent
                         and life-long resident of Ossian,
                         a member of the Episcopal
                         Church and of F. and A. M. 
                         Lodge 781 of Canaseraga.  He
                         received his metal for comple-
                         tion of fifty years of member-
                         ship in Lodge 781 during 1942.
                         Being a graduate of Canaseraga
                         High School and of Geneseo
                         State Normal School, Mr. With-
                         erell served as Principal of the
                         Palisades High School on the
                         Hudson River for ten years.
                         
                           Surviving are two brothers
                         William and Charles of Ossian
                         and several nieces and nephews.
                         
                           Funeral services will be held
                         on Sunday afternoon at two
                         o'clock from the Craig and Scott
                         Funeral Home in North Church
                         Street, Canaseraga.  Rev. C. Dal-
                         ton Scott will officiate.  Burial
                         will be made in the Canaseraga
                         cemetery.
