G 58 NY** AFFIDAVIT OF James Crary =========================== --------------------------- FILED BY Claimant [ Civil War ] [ Jul 2 1919 ] Stamp [ Division ] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- - 3-006 _____ DECLARATION OF A WIDOW FOR ORIGINAL PENSION STATE OF: New York } ss COUNTY OF: Allegany } On this 25th day of March, A.D. one thousand nine hundred and nineteen 1919 personally appeare before me, a Notary Public within and for the county and State aforesaid Cordelia Lindsey, aged 87 years, a resident of Ossian, County of Livingston, State of New York, who being duly sworn according to law, make the following declaration in order to obtain pension under the acts of Congress granting pension to the widows of soldiers and sailors who have died by reason of would or injury received, or disease contracted, in the service of the United States and in the line of duty: That she is the widow of Charles Witherell, who was enrolled under the name of Charles Witherell at (erased) on the 10th day of August, 1864 as a Private in Co "G" 58th NY * Nat Guards and was discharged on the 28 day of December, 1864, and who died at __________ on the 25th day of November, 1918 of Kidney disease due to old age incurred in the above named service. That the said soldier was not in the military or naval service of the United States escept as above. That the soldier was born ______, 18__, at Ossian Ny that his personal description at enlistment was as follows: Height, 5ft 10inch; complexion, Light; color of eyes, Blue; color of hair, Sandy; permanent marks or scars ___________ that his occupation was Farmer. That she was married under the name of Cordelia Lidnsdy to said soldier at Ossion NY on the 5th September, 1860, by Rev. Nathaniel Hammond; that there was no legal barrier to the marriage; that she had not been previously married; that the soldier had not been previously married. That she was never divorced from said soldier, and that she has not remarried since his death. That the said soldier left the following named children under 16 years of age at the date of his death, to wit: None That she has not heretofore applied for pension.
