The house is four stories high and built of white flint stone; stands about five hundred feet from the street, and has a well-kept lawn in front, while the balance of the land surrounding the institution is cultivated and used to raise vegetables for the use of the inmates. There are usually from 400 to 500 persons in the home, the majority being men.
