Although in failing health, his death came rather unexpectedly. Mr. Whalen was born in Ireland and came to this country when a young man. Later he settled in the town of Fleming and has resided there for the past 44 years. He was a man of genial dispo- sition, and made many friends. He was a kind husband, loving father and good neighbor. He is survived by his widow, five children, Thomas A., Pat- trick and Edward, Winefred and Mar- garet Whalen, all of this city, who will have the sympathy of all. The funeral will be held Thursday morning at the Holy Family church, at 10:30 o'clock. The burial will be in the family plot in St. Joseph cemetery. ===========================================================================
