FRED C. HART EXPIRES FRIDAY Vessel Master, Long Ill, Had Sailed Lake Ships Since He Was 18 Years Old. CAPTAIN FRED C. HART, pioneer lake vessel master, died Friday morning at his home, 427 West Alexandrine avenue, after several months' illness. He left his boat early in November, returning to his home because of failing health. Funeral services will take place at the home of his son, JOHN H. HART, 2885 West Grand boulevard, at 2 p.m. on Monday. CAPTAIN HART was born in Detroit August 17, 1848. When 18 years old, he started his career on the old sailing vessels which plied the lakes at that time. He gained his first command of a schooner when 21 years old, and had retained his love for the lakes ever since. For the last 20 years, he had been in the employ of M. A. Hanna & Company Cleveland, commanding the steamer G. A. Flagg and the barge A. W. Thompson during the long period. CAPTAIN HART was a member of Detroit Lodge No. 7 of the Shipmasters; association and of the Masonic fraternity. Both organizations will be represented at his funeral services, which will be conducted by Rev. Paul Faude, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal church. Interment will be in Woodmere. Besides the widow, Mrs. ADALINE HART, he leaves two sons, JOHN H. HART, vice-president of the First and Old Detroit National bank, and FRED C. HART, Jr., teller of the Wayne County and Home Savings bank, and one daughter, Mrs. DONALD C. GORDON. ==========================================================================
