R. Kirby) E. M. DOUGLASS, 23, residing at 371 Ferdinand street, was employed as first mate on the lost freighter and had sailed on many voyages with Captain GIRARDIN. He had been following the marine life since a boy when he and his father, Captain J. A. DOUGLASS, made many trips in a small steamer owned by the elder DOUGLASS. Two years ago he joined the Harvey H. Brown, as first mate and before that time had sailed one season as first mate of the ill-fated S. R. Kirby. At the beginning of the year he once more joined the Kirby as first mate. Besides the father and mother he is survived by the widow Mrs. E. M. DOUGLASS, two brothers, NORMAN and FRANKLIN, and one sister, BESSIE. **Note** Newspaper article when his body was identified give his first name as ELMER.
