JOHN A. LANGLEY Succumbs to Stroke of Paralysis at St. Joseph. Special Dispatch to The Inter Ocean. St. Joseph, Mich., Feb. 26. - CAPTAIN JOHN A. LANGLEY, a veteran lake captain, having sailed over thirty years, and well known on the chain of lakes, having acted as government inspector of hulls for three years, died this morning at his home on Langley avenue, a victim of paralysis, aged 60 years. For the last fifteen years CAPTAIN LANGLEY was a promoter in marine circles on the east shore. Through his efforts the steamer John A. Dix was operated in the passenger business be- tween Chicago and St. Joseph. Later he encouraged the Detroit and Cleveland Transportation company to enter the field, which resulted in the steamer City of Detroit being placed on the Chicago and St. Joseph run in op- position to the Graham & Morton Transportation company in the summer of 1894. =========================================================================== If you've reached this file through a SEARCH, you can access more of our growing collection of FREE online information by going to the following URL: http://www.us-data.org/ ===========================================================================
