Farrand [p. 194-195] HENRY SMITH. - HENRY SMITH, who died on Friday afternoon, January 10, 1896, was a well known and respected citizen of Port Huron. having resided in that city for 42 years. He was born in Germany in 1833, and immigrated to this country 43 years ago, living in New York one year before coming to Port Huron. On arriving in Port Huron he entered the employ of W. R. MULFORD, as a cabinetmaker. remaining with the firm for 12 years. Mr. SMITH was well known in the railroad shops of‘ Port Huron and Fort Gratiot, having been connected with Block I shops for over 15 years. He held the office of supervisor of the sixth ward, and was one of the first commanders of Humboldt Tent, K. O. T. M., in which society he held a policy for $2,000. He was also a member of German Aid society No. 1. Mr. SMITH was married 40 years ago. and leaves a wife and seven children, four sons and three daughters - ADAM, JOSEPH, HENRY and GEORGE, and Mrs. C. STONE. of Louisville, Ky., Mrs. WM. ISABELL and Mrs. E. VANNESS. of Port Huron, and 17 grandchildren. ===========================================================================
