Farrand [p. 194] ALBERT McCOLLOM. - ALBERT B. McCOLLOM died at his home on Sixth street on Thursday night, April 16, 1896, after a long struggle with consumption. Mr. McCOLLOM was a native of Canada and was born July 28, 1844. He came to Port Huron in 1863 and entered the drug store of G. J. PARKER. In August, 1864, he enlisted in the new third Michigan infantry and served until the close of the war. On returning home he spent a short time in the employ of HENRY C. HILL, of Detroit, and Dr. PARKER. In 1869 he entered WM. WASTELL’S drug store and remained seven years. In 1876 Mr. McCOLLOM formed a copartnership with F. E. SWEETSER and carried on the store at the corner of Military and Water streets for several years. During the HARRISON administration Mr. McCOLLOM was connected with the customs service. He was a member of WM. SANBORN Post. G. A. R., and several local societies. During the years 1883 and 1884 he was a member of the common council, representing the second ward. In the death of Mr. McCOLLOM Port Huron loses a good citizen. A wife and three sons, GAGE A., SYLVESTER W. and CHARLES F. McCOLLOM, survive him. ===========================================================================
