JENKINSON HAS PASSED AWAY DEATH OF WELL KNOWN WOMAN WAS SUDDEN - HAD GIVEN MUCH TO CHARITY ONLY ON TUESDAY SHE ATTENDED TO A NUMBER OF BUSINESS DETAILS MRS. ELIZA M. JENKINSON, widow of the late WILLIAM JENKINSON died very suddenly at her home, 1316 Military street at 2:30 o'clock this morning. MRS. JENKINSON was apparently in fairly good health up to Tuesday and at- tended to a number of business details with WILLIAM R. STOUTAR, manager of the JENKINSON estate. It was while talking with MR. SOUTAR on Tuesday afternoon that MRS. JENKINSON was taken with a sinking spell. Medical attend- ance was hastily summoned, but MRS. JENKINSON gradually few worse and passed away at an early hour this morning. MRS. JENKINSON had resided in Port Huron since 1871 and was widely known and universally respected for her sterling qualities of heart and mind. Many who shared her unobtrusive charities will long remember the quiet friend who helped them in their need. MRS. JENKINSON is survived by one daughter, Mrs. (Dr.) MORTIMER WILLSON, who is very ill at her home on Military street. MRS. JENKINSON, whose maiden name was ELIZA M. STETTLER was married to WILLIAM JENKINSON in 1856. MR. JENKINSON came to Port Huron in 1857 and became engaged in the lumber business. For years he shipped quantities of lumber to Chicago and eastern ports and was also inter- ested in several boat lines. He was also a large stockholder in the First National Ex- chamge bank and had large property holdings in this city. MR. JENKINSON died a number of years ago leaving a large estate, the management of which devolved upon MRS. JENKINSON. On Mon- day MRS. JENKINSON closed the details of transaction by which she purchased the F. A. PEAVEY residence on Military street and it was her intention to occupy the home. MRS. JENKINSON owned several of the most valuable business blocks in this city. A short time ago MRS. JENKINSON gave $3,000 to the First Congregational church and her interest in worthy institutions was manifested by her frequent gifts.
