JOHN CLARK, one of the old pioneers of St. Clair County, died recently at his resi- dence in East China, aged 78. He had lived on the same farm for over forty years. He was a prominent Mason, he having held some of the highest offices in that order in the State; had been a member of both houses of the Legis- lature of this State, and was also a member of the first and second Constitutional Conventions held in this State. He was a prominent member of the Baptist Church, and a regular attend- ant of the same. He will be missed by a large circle of friends and acquaintances. ==========================================================================
