On Tuesday morning of this week MARTIN MEDDAUGH, a farmer living three miles east of this village, told his family he was going to the back part of the farm to cut wood. Nothing more was thought of the matter until about noon when his son came upon the body of the father about ten rods from the house lying upon the face. A shocking sight was discovered upon the body when turned. The head was nearly severed from the body. A large jack knife was found clinched in the bloody hands, which showed what means had been used to do the terrible deed. No cause is known for the action, unless despondency of mind. ==========================================================================
