       JAMES A. HOPE, dealer in groceries and provisions, is of Scotch
       descent, and is a native of Canada, and was born near Montreal March
       23, 1844; his parents came to St. Clair County in 1855. He engaged
       in business here in 1871, and since then has carried on the business
       here. In 1881, he established a branch store on Huron avenue, and
       has a large established trade.
