Andreas & Co., Chicago - 1883 [575] JOHN HOFFMAN, contractor, was born in Germany November 26, 1839, and emigrated to the United States in 1856, and came to Port Huron, and arrived here June 22 of the same year; he began working in saw mill, and continued at that business for eleven years, and was then elected Street Commissioner, and held that office four years. He opened a store in Mt. Clemens, and was there eighteen months; for the past seven years has been engaged in contracting. He also owns a farm near the city. He married Miss MARY CHRISTINA CLACKING, a native of Germany, April 22, 1863.
