T. Andreas & Co., Chicago - 1883 [572] JAMES A. GIBSON, ship carpenter and farmer, is a native of lower Canada, and was born December 25, 1830; was brought up and learned the trade of ship carpenter. After reaching manhood, he came to this county. He has worked at his trade at Port Huron, Detroit and Buffalo, and for the past twelve years has worked in a ship yard at Vicksburg most of the time. He owns his farm, and has lived there since 1864.
