           WILLIAM GEORGE, Deputy Collector Customs, is a native of
        Pembrook, South Wales, and was born January 4, 1831.  He learned
        the trade of ship carpenter, and afterward followed his trade for
        ten years in one of the largest ship yards in the city of London.
        He came to Port Huron in 1871, and was appointed to his present
        position July 1, 1882.
